A COUNTRY IMAGINED

Johnny Clegg takes us on a journey to discover the South African imagination. Featuring work by more than 400 artists, it explores the landscapes that have inspired artists, writers, musicians and dancers for centuries, set against a backdrop of spectacular South African scenery and a vexed and dramatic history.

TOBIAS' BODY

Southern Africa is widely accepted as the cradle of mankind, in large part due to the work of the late  Professor Philip Tobias, arguably South Africa’s greatest scientific treasure.

The public face of paleo-anthropology in South Africa, Tobias was an extraordinary personality, who possessed a humorous, accessible, and anecdotal manner, as well as an enormous general knowledge.

THE AXE AND THE TREE

The Axe and the Tree was shot in difficult circumstances in Zimbabwe during the second half of 2010. The film focuses on the experiences of four individuals living in urban settlements around Harare, during the violence in 2008. It explores the impact of the violence on their lives, and their hopes and fears for the future. (A Co-production with ITCJ and Pivot Pictures)
